Computer-Based Training

The Etkin Lab Computer-Based Training study aims to improve concentration, mood, and well-being.
To achieve this, participants take part in daily computer exercises that are designed to strengthen
emotion-regulation and cognitive functioning. Exercises take ~45min/day and can be completed
from the comfort of your own home.

We are looking for healthy individuals as well as people who experience stress, depression and worry or individuals who meet criteria for certain psychiatric disorders to take part in a research study of the impact of computerized exercises on well-being and general functioning. 

The study takes place at Stanford University Medical Center and the Palo Alto VA and compensates for participation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Healthy individuals OR Individuals who feel stressed, anxious or depressed
  2. No current psychiatric medications, or willing to discontinue medication
  3. Fluent in English
  4. Have access to broadband internet at home
  5. Have a computer with at least 13 inch screen and a standalone mouse at home
  6. Between the ages of 18-60 years old

What is Involved?
For eligible participants, the study may involve any of the following:

  1. In-person baseline assessment ($15/hour compensation)
  2. Two lab visits, including an fMRI scan of the brain, questionnaires, and computerized assessment of cognitive functioning, symptoms, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors
  3. Daily online computer exercises completed from the comfort of your home for 45 days (45 mins a day)
  4. Follow up assessments at 3 months after computer exercises are completed

Total compensation ranging from $270-$410
